Steam Next Fest June 2026 Recap
Meowgic participated in Steam Next Fest June 2026 with a free demo featuring Cat Academy, the first expedition level, Golden Harp quest, Arena 3v3, and voice spell casting. The event helped push wishlists past 100,000 before the demo closed July 1 ahead of the July 20 full launch. This recap documents what Next Fest players experienced and how that demo evolved into the paid release.
What the Next Fest Demo Included
Players could complete Cat Academy training, run the first floating island expedition solo or in four-player co-op, finish the Golden Harp story objective, and try Arena 3v3 PvP with gold extraction rules. Voice casting, push-to-cast, spell scroll economy, and cat customization were all available — the same pillars in our demo walkthrough.
April 30 demo launch changelog additions — Pyro Shield, proximity chat, eleven spell languages — shipped during the Next Fest window. See April demo changelog for patch details. May customization (tuxedo fur, hat patterns) landed before demo closure.
From Next Fest to Full Launch
Official stats at demo closure: 147,163 players, 57-minute median session, 93% positive from 228 reviews, 100,528+ wishlists. Read demo stats and closure for full numbers. Demo progress did not carry to the paid game, but routing knowledge from Golden Harp and balloon extraction transfers directly.
The full July 20 release adds repeatable procedural island runs, complete progression beyond demo scope, Custom Voice Magic at full scale, and 25 Steam achievements. New buyers who missed Next Fest should start with demo walkthrough guide video routing even though the standalone demo is offline.
