Oscillogram HUD Guide
The April 2026 demo added an on-screen oscillogram at the bottom of the HUD — a voice waveform display showing your last cast spell name and audio input levels. Lazy Turtle Games shipped this feature in the full July 20 launch build to help players verify recognition instantly instead of guessing why fireball misfired. Community threads on Steam and Reddit cite the oscillogram as the fastest way to diagnose mic clipping and mispronunciation issues.
Reading the Oscillogram Display
After each voice cast with push-to-cast held, the HUD bottom shows the spell name the game recognized and a live waveform of your microphone input. If the waveform looks like solid red boxes or clips to maximum height, your mic sensitivity is too high — turn in-game voice sensitivity to zero and relaunch per voice recognition fixes.
When the displayed spell name differs from what you intended, the recognizer heard something phonetically close — shorten custom phrases or add sharper consonants via custom voice scrolls. French and multi-syllable incantations sometimes need deliberate pauses between words: "boule. de. feu" instead of rushing "boule de feu".
Calibration and Spellbook Integration
The closed playtest added a spell selection menu with on-screen oscillogram for voice calibration — record three clean samples during blank scroll binding or Custom Voice Magic setup. Scroll pages now turn through all known spells in the spellbook; last cast always echoes on the oscillogram for quick verification mid-run.
Run calibration in Cat Academy training yard before co-op matchmaking. Use our Voice Mic Setup Checker first, then confirm oscillogram readings match expected spell names. Pair with Custom Voice Magic guide when assigning meme phrases that risk phonetic collisions.
Common Oscillogram Troubleshooting
Red clipping waveforms: lower sensitivity to zero, relaunch game. Flat waveform during speech: check Windows default input device or push-to-cast binding. Wrong spell name displayed: pick distinct custom phrases per slot. Recognition stops mid-session: relaunch — some players report ~40-minute timeouts fixed by restart.
Studio condenser mics sometimes need sensitivity at zero because the game amplifies input gain. Discord voice chat running simultaneously rarely blocks recognition if push-to-cast isolates spell windows. See proximity voice chat for balancing comms vs spell mic on single-headset setups.

Frequently Asked Questions
When was the oscillogram HUD added?
During the April 2026 demo updates, included in the July 20 full launch.
What does a red waveform mean?
Your mic is clipping — sensitivity too high. Lower to zero and relaunch.
Does the oscillogram show custom spell names?
Yes. It displays whichever phrase the game recognized, default or custom.
Can I hide the oscillogram?
Check in-game HUD settings. Most players keep it enabled for troubleshooting.
